Optical Backscatter Reflectometry
Luna Technologies’ Optical Backscatter Reflectometers (OBR) measure reflections (less than 0.0003 parts per billion) in an optical system as a function of length with spatial resolution less than 10 microns. Industry-leading 10 micron spatial resolution with zero dead-zone will pinpoint even the smallest contributors to loss: bends, crimps, bad splices, with a range up to 2000 meters. The OBR performs single-scan measurement of Insertion Loss and Return Loss through a single connection with - 70 dB dynamic range and -130 dB sensitivity.
A portable version of the Luna OBR, the OBR-4200, is particularly well adapted for fault location in naval and avionics fiber installations.
